{"id":98,"date":"2026-07-21T10:49:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T09:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigmouthrocknews.com\/?p=98"},"modified":"2026-07-21T10:49:02","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T09:49:02","slug":"birmingham-to-honour-ozzy-osbourne-with-first-ever-ozzy-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigmouthrocknews.com\/?p=98","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham To Honour Ozzy Osbourne With First-Ever \u2018Ozzy Day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Prince of Darkness is coming home once again.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Birmingham will honour one of its greatest-ever cultural icons on <strong>Tuesday, July 22<\/strong>, by hosting the city&#8217;s first-ever Ozzy Day, celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One year after the legendary Black Sabbath frontman passed away, the city where heavy metal was born is paying tribute with a free day of events dedicated to the man who helped put Birmingham on the global music map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fans from across the UK are expected to descend on the city for a packed programme of celebrations featuring live music, brass band performances, exhibitions, film screenings, public art installations and exclusive merchandise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the highlights of the day will see The Bostin Brass Band perform instrumental versions of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath classics at locations across Birmingham:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>8:30am<\/strong> \u2013 Birmingham New Street<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>10:00am<\/strong> \u2013 Birmingham Museum &amp; Art Gallery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>11:30am<\/strong> \u2013 Selfridges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>12:45pm<\/strong> \u2013 Black Sabbath Bench<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3:00pm<\/strong> \u2013 Martineau Place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore some of Birmingham&#8217;s most iconic Ozzy landmarks, including the Black Sabbath Bench, while Selfridges will stock a limited-edition Ozzy Day T-shirt exclusively for the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another major attraction will be the chance to see Ozzy&#8217;s throne from the historic <em>Back To The Beginning<\/em> farewell concert, alongside photo opportunities with the giant Ozzy Bull statue, which has quickly become one of the city&#8217;s most recognisable tributes to the rock legend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For generations of rock and metal fans, Birmingham is far more than just Ozzy&#8217;s hometown\u2014it&#8217;s the birthplace of heavy metal itself. Alongside Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, Ozzy helped create a sound that would inspire countless bands and forever change the course of music history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than five decades after Black Sabbath first emerged from the streets of Aston, Birmingham continues to embrace the legacy of its most famous son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy Day isn&#8217;t simply about remembering a music icon\u2014it&#8217;s a celebration of a man whose influence transformed an industrial city into the spiritual home of heavy metal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Prince of Darkness is coming home once again.
