Yellowcard are extending the Better Days era with a new deluxe edition of the album, led by previously unreleased track ‘Calvary Drive’.
The song is out now and carries some significant history for the band. ‘Calvary Drive’ was the first demo Yellowcard worked on with Travis Barker and songwriter and producer Nick Long during the sessions that eventually developed into Better Days.
Despite playing an early role in shaping the record, the track didn’t make the original album. It will now finally receive its place on the expanded digital edition, which arrives on September 18.
The deluxe version of Better Days will also feature collaborations with Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte, Alkaline Trio and blink-182 guitarist Matt Skiba, as well as Steve Aoki.
Barker’s involvement with Yellowcard has been central to this chapter of the band’s career. The blink-182 drummer produced Better Days and played drums across the record, with the album marking Yellowcard’s first full-length release since their 2016 self-titled record and subsequent reunion.
‘Calvary Drive’ offers another look into those sessions, but also traces the project back to its earliest stages, before the direction of the eventual album had fully taken shape.
Yellowcard return to the UK this November
The new music arrives ahead of Yellowcard’s return to the UK later this year, where they’ll join Good Charlotte on their November arena tour.
The pairing brings together two bands closely associated with the explosion of pop-punk in the 2000s, with Yellowcard continuing a comeback that has developed well beyond the band’s initial reunion.
The deluxe edition of Better Days will be released digitally on September 18.
