The Derbyshire comedy metal band have shared a new single and video about unreadable metal logos, and announced a three-date game show tour for November.

Raised By Owls have released a new single and music video titled “My Optician Called Me a Poser Because I Couldn’t Read the Sanguisugabogg Logo”.

The release is out now, and the band describe it as the start of a new era as they begin a new record cycle.

The track and video are about unreadable metal logos. Vocalist Sam Strachan says: “A band’s logo tells you a lot about the band: their sound, their image, and whether or not your nan would approve of them. I’ve always been drawn to the more over-the-top ridiculous logos.”

He adds: “Remember kids: the more illegible the logo, the greater the band!”

A new chapter for Raised By Owls

Strachan says the single “ushers in a new era for the band as we start gearing up for a new record cycle.”

“This single is the next step in the band’s evolution; we’ve taken what we’ve done before and made it bigger and better in all areas,” he continues.

The band say their videos have now racked up 2.5 million views on YouTube.

The Big Metal Game Show tour

Raised By Owls and Mangata Music will also present The Big Metal Game Show, a run of three headline shows in England this month:

  • Fri 27 November – Manchester, Rebellion
  • Sat 28 November – London, Oslo
  • Sun 29 November – Bristol, The Fleece

Nic-Cage Against The Machine will provide direct support on all three dates, with Malamutant in Manchester, Uridium in London and Priest Crippler in Bristol.

The shows promise crowd participation, prizes to be won, a game show stage set and props, mascots, metal classics, inflatables and Raised By Owls’ greatest hits.

Strachan says anyone who has seen the band in the last two years will know they have been hosting a mid-set game show where audience members win prizes. “It’s been so much fun that we’re taking that idea and expanding it into a full headline performance,” he says. “These will be our biggest headline shows to date, with a full scale game-show production in tow.”

Raised By Owls are Strachan (vocals), Tobias Cope (bass), Alex LeGrice and Mark Bainbridge (guitars), Lee Deane (drums) and Jamie Greatorex (mascots).
