Metal For Good is bringing back its annual Metal Merch Day on Friday, October 23, inviting rock and metal fans to wear their favourite band merchandise and raise money for grassroots community projects.
Now in its fourth year, the fundraising campaign celebrates the positive impact of alternative music while supporting organisations that use music to improve mental health, empower young people and give underrepresented communities a voice.
The charity has already helped fund projects including The Music Works, Heads Above The Waves and Gig Buddies. By the end of 2026, Metal For Good expects to have supported more than 30 projects and distributed almost £50,000 in funding.
How Can You Get Involved?
Getting involved couldn’t be much easier.
On Friday, October 23, fans are encouraged to wear their favourite band merchandise to work, school, college, the gym or wherever the day takes them.
Whether it’s a battered old Slipknot shirt, a favourite festival hoodie or something considerably more outrageous, anything goes. Rock, metal, punk and alternative fans are all welcome.
Participants are encouraged to donate to Metal For Good, with a suggested contribution of £5 for those who can afford it, before sharing a photo on social media using #MMD26 and tagging @metalforgood.
Workplaces, schools and community groups can also organise their own fundraising activities, including raffles, bake sales and best-dressed competitions.

Funeral For A Friend and Theory Of A Deadman Join the Campaign
This year’s event has attracted support from several names across the alternative music scene.
Funeral For A Friend and Theory Of A Deadman have teamed up with Metal For Good to release exclusive collaborative merchandise, alongside the official Metal Merch Day 2026 T-shirt.
Funeral For A Friend drummer Ryan Richards explained why the Welsh post-hardcore favourites wanted to get involved.
“Metal Merch Day is a great idea, and the work Metal For Good are doing with music and community organisations is something we’re really proud to get behind.”
Richards added that the band’s longstanding connection with its community made the collaboration a natural fit, encouraging fans to support the campaign however they can.
Welsh reggae-metal favourites Skindred are also contributing to the cause, donating £1 from every ticket sold for their Night Of The Living Dread show at London’s Alexandra Palace on October 31.
Elsewhere, alternative makeup brand Jolie Beauty will donate 10% of sales made on October 23, while clothing brand Dixxon will contribute 15% of sales from selected collaborations between October 23 and 25.
More Fundraising Events Planned
Metal For Good’s fundraising efforts extend beyond the day itself.
The charity’s Metal Merch Day auction will return, featuring signed memorabilia, rare merchandise and exclusive items donated by artists and supporters from across the rock and metal community.
A further fundraising event will take place in Nottingham on October 24, featuring a Halloween-themed pop-up beer festival, vintage stalls, DJ sets from Heavy Metal Hairdresser and a raffle.
All funds raised will help Metal For Good continue providing grants to grassroots organisations using music to make a difference.
Where to Donate
Metal Merch Day takes place on Friday, October 23, 2026.
