Inquest finds Fontaines D.C. manager Trevor Dietz died by suicide aged 47
Trevor Dietz, the longtime manager described by Fontaines D.C. as the band’s “sixth member,” died in June following a prolonged struggle with his mental health.
An inquest has concluded that Fontaines D.C. manager Trevor Dietz died by suicide on June 7, 2026. He was 47.
East Sussex Coroner’s Court heard that Dietz had experienced recurrent anxiety for several years and had been receiving support from his GP and other mental-health professionals.
The hearing was told that he had felt overwhelmed by his mental-health difficulties and had become increasingly distressed by events around the world, particularly the suffering in Gaza.
Outside his work within the music industry, Dietz was known for campaigning for Palestinian human rights and supporting humanitarian causes.
His sister Helena Prentice described him as an “exceptionally intelligent, kind and compassionate man” who cared deeply about the suffering of innocent people.
Assistant Coroner Rachel Redman recorded a conclusion of suicide. She also acknowledged Dietz’s devotion to Fontaines D.C. and the mutual affection between him and the musicians with whom he worked.
Dietz began working with Fontaines D.C. in 2016 and remained alongside the Dublin band throughout their rise to international success.
Announcing his death in June, Fontaines D.C. described him as an inseparable part of their story.
“We have never known Fontaines D.C. without him,” the band wrote. “He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always.”
The band asked that the privacy of Dietz’s family and loved ones continue to be respected.
