Motionless In White Score Major Chart Success With ‘Decades’

Motionless In White have secured one of the strongest chart weeks of their career following the release of their seventh studio album, Decades.

The record opened with 29,500 album-equivalent units and reached No.1 on Billboard’s US Hard Rock Albums chart. It also topped the UK’s Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart, giving the band major chart victories on both sides of the Atlantic.

Decades additionally debuted at No.15 on the Billboard 200, reached No.2 on both the US Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts, and landed at No.5 on Australia’s overall albums chart.

The results arrive during a milestone year for the Pennsylvania band, who are celebrating two decades together. Released on July 17 through Roadrunner Records, Decades follows 2022’s Scoring the End of the World and continues the group’s blend of metalcore, industrial music, goth and electronic production. 

Motionless In White thanked fans for supporting the album throughout its release campaign, describing the journey towards Decades as one of the most significant periods of their career.

The album was introduced by “Afraid of the Dark,” which previously became the band’s first track to top Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. That was followed by “Playing God,” featuring Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. 

Other collaborations on the record include Skylar Grey on “R.I.P.” and Dark Divine on “Blood Rave,” while the tracklist also features “Fight Like Hell,” “All That I’ve Ever Known,” “Love at First Bite” and a reworked version of Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses at Night.”

The album has been praised for expanding the band’s familiar sound without abandoning the industrial heaviness, theatrical atmosphere and large choruses that have defined their recent work. Metal Hammer described it as Motionless In White’s most impressive album so far, highlighting the way its electronic, gothic and metal influences are brought together across the record. 

Its UK performance also represents a significant step forward. Before the final chart was published, Decades had been tracking towards the band’s first appearance inside the main UK Top 40, surpassing the previous No.43 peak achieved by Reincarnate in 2014. 

For a band now entering its third decade, the opening-week figures show that Motionless In White are continuing to grow rather than simply relying on their established audience.
